Receive the new freighter! MSC Air Cargo continues to expand its fleet
MSC Air Cargo has taken delivery of its fifth cargo aircraft as it continues to expand its all-cargo fleet.
The airline took delivery of its newest Boeing 777 Freighter (I-MSCA) late last week. The aircraft with MSC livery will be named Alfirk and will be based in Milan.
Jannie Davel, senior vice president of MSC Air Cargo, said in a LinkedIn post that the aircraft will "improve our efficiency and ability to better serve our customers and trade routes."
According to fleet website PlaneSpotters, the plane was originally ordered by Air Canada Cargo, but the Montreal-based airline canceled plans to buy the 777f due to weak air cargo market conditions.
The plane just left the factory and only made its maiden flight in April.
The freighter will be operated by Ali Cargo Airlines, a subsidiary of msc.
aliiscargo received the AOC in July 2021 and has been operating light aircraft throughout the pandemic, but its operating license was suspended by the Italian Civil Aviation Authority last year before it was acquired by MSC.
MSC acquired a majority stake in aliiscargo Airlines in August last year and invested 100 percent of the airline this year.
MSC Air Cargo began operations in December 2022 and uses Lilech Airport as its European hub.
Earlier this year, the last of four new Boeing 777 Freighters was delivered to Atlas Air, which operates the aircraft under an ACMI agreement with MSC Air Cargo.
